overview
Participating municipalities: Carlstadt, East Rutherford, Little Ferry, Lyndhurst, Moonachie, North Arlington, Ridgefield, Rutherford, South Hackensack, Teterboro; Jersey City, Kearny, North Bergen and Secaucus.
This is a regional effort by the NJMC to provide Meadowlands District municipalities with access to maps and records on properties and infrastructure for managing municipal assets, planning for improvements and supporting emergency management operations.
Extensive and up to date datasets on properties and property boundaries, roads, land use, zoning, census data and municipal assets such as fire hydrants, manholes and catch basins and aerial images are available to the towns via the Internet.
The system helps visualize the spatial arrangement of municipal infrastructure, administrative boundaries and fundamental demographics of each town in maps and tables that show proximity, elevations and distances that would otherwise be impractical to describe using words alone.
The system is intended for municipal officials, department of public works staff, fire fighters and police officers (among others) and to assist them in delivering information and services to the community in the form of variance notifications, zoning and land use inventories and updates and emergency management information including Right to Know records (RTK) that inform first responders about hazardous materials stored in industrial facilities.
The data can be accessed through the following URL: http://meri.njmeadowlands.gov/GIS/maps.php.
In order to access the Municipal Map Viewer, please contact the MERI-GIS Department at (201) 460-4612.
Passwords to access this information are sent out to towns quarterly (January 1 to March 31, April 1 to June 30, July 1 to September 30 and October 1 to December 31).
